The Mr. Ben's titled drum books came about while uses multiple different books during private lessons, to the point that we needed a simple and concise way to gain the knowledge we needed while keeping the unnecessary "fillers" out of our curriculum. Read more...
- All of my students learn to read music, because having the ability to read will allow them to teach themselves.
- I require them to have FUN, because playing music IS fun and it aids the learning process
- We must learn about old music and new music. We couldn't possibly know where music is going if we don't know where it came from.

Private Lessons are 30, 45, or 60 minutes in length, one lesson per week.
I teach at a public and secure location, Ridgewood Park UMC. Many of my students prefer *In-Home lessons, please contact me to schedule. I charge a fee to cover gas and tolls, though there is no base charge, I work this out with parents on an individual basis. I also work for multiple studios that require a degree from an accredited university(SMU) and a full background check, so you can be assured you're learning with a professional instructor. Parents are encouraged to attend lessons at any time, more than anything I want them involved in the education process. Read what my parents have to say...

"We believe the study of music and arts presents a tool for self-expression, awareness to beauty, and high personal accomplishment. It is our main goal to endow our students with an enthusiastic understanding and skills to enjoy and appreciate these gifts for a lifetime."
Over the past 6 years, teaching children has been one of the most enjoyable opportunities I've had. As it turns out, I have gotten quite good at it. During that time I have taught children from ages 4 years old to seniors in their late 60's. My students have already gone on to accomplish great things, as most recently one of my students auditioned for 7th grade band. He won 1st chair honors out of 50+ students. At the time, he was reading music at a high school level. Some of my younger students have become more serious about music, while others enjoy learning an instrument along with the other activities and sports they are involved in. Because music has something for everyone, the benefits can be discovered by everyone who studies it. There is no debate as to the positive effects of music on young people, and for that matter, all people.
